I never thought that I would actually make it to the end of my four year degree in electrical engineering, but I am so close I can smell it.  Having studied for more nights than I care to remember, and working on lab after lab report, I am just about ready to embark on my career and be done with school for awhile.  Even though I am really excited, there is still a bit of work to be done before I am finally free of school.
First off, there are a few final assignments that I need to complete in the next few weeks.  These assignments account for as much as thirty percent of my final mark, so you can imagine that I have been spending a large amount of time on them.  In fact, my plans for tonight will include working on the final wiring diagrams for the medical cable assemblies that we had the opportunity to dissect and study in one of our labs.  Since it is a group project, it shouldn’t take too long, but sometimes we have been known to chat more than we work.
Then there are exams.  I have six of them this term, and it is hard to believe that they will be the last final exams that I might ever take.  Many of my friends have decided not to study too hard for their last exams, but I want to make sure I do the best I can.  This means that I have been studying a bit each day for the last two weeks already, and I’ll be studying right up until the exam day.  I get one shot at this, and I really don’t want to screw it up.
The only thing that I am really worried about leaving college is leaving the school behind.  I guess it has been such a big part of my life for the last four years that I never really thought about life beyond these walls.  I suppose it will be a new challenge, and I look forward to it – even though right now it seems a little scary.
