During the SWSX Conference last Wednesday (March 14, 2012), the Atlanta-based company Mowgli launched a new music-creation game for Facebook.
The game is called “Songster”, where music loving people can create their own beats and vocals. Songster aims to let your inner rockstar out.
What is Songster all about?
Songster is the first and only music creation social game on Facebook, allowing players to create songs with friends. Players can build their songs with layers of instrument and vocal loops. They can even create their own melodies with just a flick of their fingers. And all of this can be done while working with friends on the same song.
Players will be able to unlock achievements ranging from hiring a manager to signing sponsorship and record deals as they progress through the game. The players will follow a storyline of a fledging band/artist working their way up through the ranks of the music industry.
How is Songsters played?
To be able to access the game, you will need to log in your Facebook account. In the game, users will be able to choose different genres from rap, rock and alternative music to mix together and create their own song.
Players can share their music on Facebook and show it to other Songster players. They can also use virtual coins to progress in the game and get better gigs. You can choose different venues from the cartoon map.
The game is still in beta version, so expect added features in the game. Developers plan to integrate charts in the future.
You can start off with a list of song packs. If you want to unlock more songs, you need to play often as most song packs can be bought for in-game currency.
Founder and CEO Marshall Seese, Jr. says “Only premium features and unlocking things early costs money at this point”.
The game is free to play for everyone. Make sure that you have a reliable internet connection so that the songs you create will not be disrupted as you create them. AT&T has reliable internet packages. Check out ATT Uverse promotions for great deals.
